What to expect step by step
Examination and X-ray
We examine the tooth and take an X-ray to assess the extent of the decay and confirm a filling is the right treatment. We will explain exactly what we have found and walk you through the options before doing anything.

We numb the area around the tooth with a local anaesthetic injection. You will feel a small pinch, then the area goes numb within a couple of minutes. We will not start until you are completely comfortable and cannot feel anything.

We remove the decayed portion of the tooth, clean the area thoroughly, then apply the composite resin in layers. Each layer is set with a curing light before the next is added. You will feel pressure but no pain throughout.

Once the filling is in place, we shape and polish it so it fits your bite perfectly and looks completely natural. We will check your bite carefully before you leave, and advise you on how to look after the filling going forwards.
