The basics

What is Invisalign®?

Invisalign® uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gradually straighten your teeth. Each aligner moves your teeth a tiny amount, and you switch to a new set every 1-2 weeks. No metal brackets, no wires, just clear plastic that's nearly invisible.

1–2 weeks per aligner

The aligners are made from smooth, BPA-free plastic that won't irritate your gums or cheeks. You wear them throughout the day and night, taking them out only to eat, drink anything other than water, and brush your teeth.

Nearly invisible treatment that fits around your life, not the other way round.

Because the aligners are removable, there are no food restrictions and keeping your teeth clean is straightforward. Most people won't even notice you're wearing them, making Invisalign® ideal for adults and teens who want a discreet option.

What can Invisalign® fix?

Invisalign® clear aligners treat a wide range of orthodontic issues, from mild crowding to moderate bite problems.

01

Crowded teeth

Clear aligners gradually create space and guide overlapping teeth into alignment, treating mild to moderate crowding effectively.

02

Gaps and spacing

Invisalign® closes gaps between teeth by gently drawing them together, whether you have one noticeable space or several small gaps.

03

Overbite

When upper teeth overlap the lower teeth too much, clear aligners reposition them to achieve a healthier, more balanced bite.

04

Underbite

In mild to moderate cases where lower teeth sit in front of upper teeth, Invisalign® can correct the alignment without visible brackets.

05

Crossbite

When some upper teeth bite inside the lower teeth, clear aligners shift them into proper position for better function and appearance.

06

Open bite

When front teeth don't meet when closing your mouth, Invisalign® can move them into contact for proper biting and chewing.

Invisalign® doesn't hurt, but you'll feel pressure when you switch to a new aligner. This is normal, it means your teeth are moving. The pressure usually eases after a day or two. Most people find aligners more comfortable than braces because there are no metal brackets or wires to irritate your mouth.

Most Invisalign® treatments take 12-18 months, though simpler cases can be finished in as little as 6 months. The exact duration depends on how much your teeth need to move. We'll give you a clear timeline at your consultation, and you'll be able to see your predicted end result before you start.

No, you need to remove your aligners before eating or drinking anything except water. This prevents staining and damage to the aligners. The good news is you can eat whatever you like, there are no food restrictions like there are with braces. Just take your aligners out, eat, brush your teeth, and put them back in.

You'll switch to a new set of aligners every 1-2 weeks, depending on your treatment plan. Each new aligner moves your teeth a tiny bit further. You need to wear your aligners for 20-22 hours a day to stay on track. We'll see you every 6-8 weeks to check your progress and give you your next sets of aligners.

Invisalign® at Face Dental starts from £2,900. The final cost depends on how complex your case is and how many aligners you'll need. We offer flexible payment plans to spread the cost, and we'll give you a clear, fixed price before you commit to treatment. No hidden fees, no surprises.

Yes, you can keep your aligners in for most sports. For contact sports like rugby or boxing, we recommend removing them and wearing a mouthguard instead. One of the advantages of Invisalign® is you can take the aligners out when needed, then put them back in afterwards. Just make sure you're still wearing them for 20-22 hours a day.
